Today, date 8th 2016 around 7 PM I heard the news that our lovely brother
Mr. Chhongba Sherpa was missing while descending after climbing up Labuche Peak. Immediate I heard the news, I asked calling his brother and knew that they all were also living discussing on the same topic at Nilo Pool; I immediately set out from home and reached there; after living few minutes there, around 10 PM we all returned our home and on the next day too we heard that helicopter could not go because of bad weather.
On that night, I started contemplating many things in my mind and then I thought, despite, we have lots of climbers, mountain guides, and aspirant guides in our V.D.C., however, we could not go to rescue below 6000 m. until 3 days, why? When the day broke I wake up early in the morning and at 9 AM I went to Nima Tendi at Kailash Danda, because of most of the advice and coordinating by him. and we called his younger brother and we discussed. We decided to go immediately for rescue informing to company’s man Gyaljen Sherpa. We four peoples Ang Dawa Sherpa, Lopsang Sherpa, Pempa Jangbu Sherpa, Mingma Chhiri Sherpa got ready for rescue team. We immediately prepared rescue item and made a plan to go to Airport around 3 PM and at 4PM we reached Labuje by altitude helicopter. While reaching Labuje, we met our two friends and took all information because the climbing team was with them. The next day on 11 Oct. in the morning, we started searching reaching at base of Labuje mountain but could not find. Me and Lopsang searched climbing 3 pitch multi- pitch but nothing found. Bad weather has caused much difficulty and chill. However we had habit of such chill it was not much difficult. Again we all returned to camp and made plan for tomorrow. All we were much tired and slept after dinner soon. We decided to wake up at 1 AM in the morning and decided to search going to the location wherefrom the man was fallen down.
At 1 AM. We all woke up and got ready after taking Champa. But our one friend Lopsang had to live at the base due to problem in his eye and thereafter Lopsang and PK. decided to live stay at the base. Only we four got ready to go up. We started at 1:30 am and reached around 8:00 am to the place where from Chhongba fallen down. Immediately I set safety in fix rope and started making ancher & safety to my all teams. I set back up to three point anchor with back up anchor and prepared technique system and climbed down of 30 M. below, there was not so dangerous. And when I saw path for travers then I guessed we can do this if we found , then me and Mingma brother of chhongba rappel down nearly 400 M. carrying Korean rope & rock piton for anchor . after few minutes I saw Korean roop and body then we continuously descent until got succeeded to find out a dead body , and immediately we called Lopsang and PK above and made effort to climb down, we called Pemba jangbu and pasang gyaljen to come slowly through another way; thereafter, we slowly kept the dead body inside and tried to climb down. After few hours PK and Lopsang arrived at crampons point then slowly we took dead body near rusal camp by 7: 30 PM and as we all were so tired, we kept there the dead body safely and went to Labuje. We reached Labuje around 8:30 PM. On the same day, we did rescue for nearly 20 hours. And tomorrow we again went and we took the dead body to the flat zone and packed it in a manner it will be easy to load on helicopter. We called Shree air helicopter and we all team returned to Kathmandu safely after completing rescue .then I wrote status & post some of the rescue photos in my facebook then many people wrote a good comment for my status, more then 40 comments then I feel proud my self.
Though we were unable to bring our neighbor brother alive we were successful to bring his dead body. I got experience “what is life”.
